Objective
To ponder intensively on the theme: “WATER & CITY” and share ideas, imagine innovative solutions, create new digital tools, develop the network, surf on many and sometimes unexploited data, learn together helped by coaches … in a friendly atmosphere, for a weekend.
-
Issues
The hydrological risk (drought, flood), amplified by climate change, impacts the facilities, the activities, but also the aquatic environments. Water contributes to the comfort of the inhabitants through recreational activities, district heating, refreshing spaces.
Through catchments, treatments, networks, buildings, warning systems, it is a whole connected domain emerging in urban areas: river/urban gully management, floods, resilience, extreme rainfall and urban risks, innovation, smart city, renaturation, circular economy, reuse/recycling, sanitation, drinking water, water and urban recreation (golf, temporary beaches, …), etc.

Expected participants
Professionals, researchers, students, companies, creators, institutions, associations, citizens, architects, urban planners, landscapers, managers of sports equipment or green spaces, computer scientists, developers, community managers, lawyers, economists, …
Organized by the Universities of Montpellier, Barcelona and La Reunion, the Water Tech Hackathon brings together many academic partners (KIM MUSE WATERS, IM2E, IMT Mines Alès, IUT La Réunion), institutional (Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, AD’OCC, Technopole La Réunion) and also corporate ones (Pôle Aqua-Valley, Veolia).
